Invested into Scouts 20 feet off the ground!

On the last evening meeting of 2011 the 23rd Bath (avondale) scout group invested its newest member 20 feet off the ground.

12 members of the troop were at the Bristol Climbing Centre and had just finished leaning how to belay and climb with several successful attempts to reach the roof 50 feet up at the top of the converted church.

Next came the moment of truth for our new recruit – could he say his scout promise, shake hands with the leader and join the troop all without looking down or falling off.

The good news is that he completed everything with no problem at all.  He then moved on to spend time on the bouldering wall as a fully invested member of the scout troop.

Assistant Scout leader Andy Bartlett said “We try to invest scouts at places they will remember for years to come.  In the past we have invested scouts in a cave, on the beach and on Brownsea Island.  This one was special as  his mother was helping out with the evening – a proud moment for both of them.”
